We’ve been waiting for rates to come down for a while now. And they did. A little. Then they went up. A little. Now they’ve come back down. A little. (As has been said, “It’s the Economy!”). Here’s the thing: even if rates go down, your dream home won’t be cheaper. Why? Because when rates drop, home prices go up – and it gets exacerbated in markets where there is limited inventory. So, waiting to buy doesn’t help, especially in a market like Austin where there are a lot of buyers and not enough homes. Mark’s advice: If you’ve found a house you love and can afford, buy it! When you borrow with him, he will automatically refinance when rates go down with no lender fees!* (But you can’t refinance the home price.)

Don’t do anything drastic! Don’t apply for store credit or a new gym membership, don’t change bank accounts, and don’t get a new mobile phone plan. But do keep being your awesome self… and also keep on top of your monthly credit payments, stay where you are (as in don’t move residences), and call Mark Smith. A new home is the biggest purchase of your life so get the best mortgage lender you can! And call more often. We love to hear from you.
